Program Description
Florida KidCare offers affordable, low-cost health insurance for the uninsured children of Florida. No interview required, just fill out and mail the easy, one-page application and we will tell you if your child is eligible.
General Program Requirements
In order to qualify for this benefit program, you must be a resident of Florida, under 19 years of age, not covered by health insurance (including Medicaid), a US national, citizen, legal alien, or permanent resident, and you must have an annual household income before taxes of less than $28,008 if two people live in the household; $35,208 if three people live in the household; $42,408 if four people live in the household; $49,608 if five people live in the household; $56,808 if six people live in the household; $64,008 if seven people live in the household; $71,208 if eight people live in the household; and $78,408 if more than eight people live in the household. For larger households, add $7,200 for each additional person in the home. Depending on your income level, you may have to pay a premium for coverage. Your application will be screened for Children's Medicaid. If eligible, you will receive a notice from the Department of Children and Families advising you when Medicaid benefits begin.
Note: Children who are members of federally recognized American Indian or Native Alaskan tribes may be eligible for free coverage. Click here for additional information:
