Program Description
These are benefits paid to retired workers who have earned enough
Social Security credits. Based on your date of birth, you could get Social
Security retirement benefits now or when you turn 62 if you have enough work
credits. Would you like more information
about retirement benefits? Use the link
below to our Publications Home Page and review “Retirement Benefits,” Social
Security Publication Number 05-10035 or review Chapter 3 of the Social
Security Handbook. Would
you like an estimate of how much your monthly benefit might
be? If you live in the U.S., you should
have received a Social Security Statement in the mail three months before
your last birthday. The Statement would have told you if you have enough
credits for retirement benefits and, if so, how much your benefit would be.
If you do not have your Statement or you would like a new estimate, use the
link below to our Benefits Calculators.
If you would like to request a Statement now, use the link
below. You can apply for retirement
benefits using the link below to our online application or you can choose
“Contact Us” to make an appointment.
Would you like more information about

Earn Credits,” Social Security Publication Number

NOTE: If you get (or will get) a pension based on work for
an employer who did not withhold Social Security taxes, such as a government
agency or an employer in another country, your Social Security benefits may
be reduced. Use the link below to our Publications Home Page and review “A
Pension from Work Not Covered by Social Security”, Social Security
Publication Number 05-10045 and “Government Pension Offset”, Social Security
